Bio

Shawn Richards' roots in country music began at a very young age. The first concert he ever attended was in Austin, Texas in 1983 at the age of four, where he saw a brand new artist named George Strait. From then on, country music was in his blood. He began singing in middle school choir at the age of 12 where he performed numerous solos. At 13, he joined his first band, performing throughout central Indiana at county fairs, festivals, and other venues. At 14, Shawn began performing solo shows, quickly gaining a reputation for his vocal maturity and high-energy style of entertaining.

At 16, Shawn joined the Country Music Association of Indiana. At the state competition in August of 1995, he won multiple awards, including the Entertainer of the Year. At the national competition in October of that year, he was part of the National Vocal Duo of the Year, and was awarded the National Rising Star of the Year. The following year, 1996, he again won multiple awards at the state level, and at the national competition, he was awarded National Male Vocalist of the Year.

After graduating high school in 1997, Shawn moved to Austin, Texas where he performed with multiple bands and other solo shows. During that time, he played for crowds of anywhere from 3 to 30,000. In January of 2000, he enlisted in the United States Army as a line technician, receiving an honorable discharge in 2002. Over the next several years, he continued to play solo shows before moving back to Indiana in 2011. He continued to play again until 2013.

Shawn took a break from music for the next eight years, but in March of 2021, he performed at DT's R Bar in Anderson, IN and caught the music bug once again. By June of that year, he was booked solid for the rest of the year.

In February of 2023, while sitting in Elkhart, Indiana, Shawn began writing the lyrics to what would quickly become his signature song. "My Indiana Home" quickly became a crowd favorite, achieving more than 800,000 streams, downloads, and views across multiple streaming platforms.

Since then, Shawn has continued to write, and his debut album, Livin' The Dream, is set for release in June of 2024. He is booked for live shows in Indiana, Michigan, and Minnesota throughout 2024.

Shawn has gained a loyal following through his live performances, where he is known for taking his cordless microphone into the audience to engage others in singalongs throughout his shows. His enormous song catalog includes songs from the last 70 years or more, including Sinatra, Seger, Shinedown, George Strait, Luke Combs, and many more. You're guaranteed to hear a huge variety of artists and genres at any of his performances.
